 ABOUT

As a child, I watched the show with great interest, not just to see the spectacular puppet work, but the in depth story arcs that made the show feel like a true Space Opera. With a wide variety of characters like Dr Ben and the crew of X-Bomber or the Imperial Alliance with Commander Makara, there was a true stand out character and it was not one with a speaking part.
Dai-X a sort of combining robot in the same style as Go Nagi's previous triple combining mechs (Getter Robo). Housed within mobile launch bays on the sides and underbelly of X-Bomber's main structure, Braincom, Mainbody and Legtrax could be used as separate space fighters or when a dire need for more power and muscle was needed would unite as Dai-X.

As Dai-X the stakes were higher, it could walk through the battlefield with a slow, cumbersome lurch, but still give off an air of raw destructive power. Armed figuratively and literally its weapons system consisted of  the Super Canon fixed to the right arm of Dai-X which could fire off pulse blasts.

On the left arm are two mounted torpedoes, a smaller laser is stored in the toe of Legtrax. More weapons such as chest missiles, eye blasts and the face mounted X tracer that fired from the cross like structure on Dai-X's face plate.

Now nearing 40 or so years since its initial release in Japan (X-bomber) and Europe (Bomber-X in France and Italy) a number of fans have banned together to re-live the series leading to new DVD and Blu-Ray releases, as well as a remastered soundtrack score by series composer Paul Bliss.
